The PMO Symposium 2010 Program Committee invites qualified speakers
to submit proposals related to our Symposium theme, Realizing The Value, for
consideration of inclusion in the PMO Symposium 2010 program.
Consistent with the 2010 theme, the Program Committee requests that
proposals address one of the following three PMO perspectives: tactical,
managerial, or strategic views of the PMO. The PMO Symposium 2010 Program Committee especially seeks presentations that:

Q: What types of presentations are you seeking?
A: The program committee is seeking a variety of presentation types. Lectures, case studies, guided discussions, and other presentations will be considered. The program committee has designed a 60 minute session length for breakout sessions and a four hour session length for bonus sessions and therefore encourages engaging topics that provide opportunities for audience interaction, Q&A, etc.
Q: Are expenses reimbursed?
A: In addition to complimentary symposium registration, speakers will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses, in accordance with the symposium travel guidelines. Please contact us at speakers@pmosymposium.org if you have any questions regarding expense reimbursement.
Q: Is airfare for international presenters reimbursed?
A: Advance purchase economy/coach class international airfare is reimbursed up to a specified limit for selected presenters travelling from destinations outside of the United States.
Q: Are speaking times flexible?
A: In general, yes. We have 60 minute speaking slots throughout the entire agenda and will be happy to attempt to accommodate travel schedules for speakers. Please let us know in your submission if you have any specific time restrictions.
Q: When will selected speakers be notified?
A: Selected speakers will be notified by early April. Confirmation of your intent to speak, including return of a signed Speaker Agreement and associated documentation, will be due soon after you are notified of acceptance.
Q: How many attendees will attend a particular session?
A: Attendance numbers vary widely. Room capacities will be limited to around 100 persons for breakout sessions.
Q: Will the symposium staff copy handouts or other materials for distribution in my session?
A: A copy of your presentation slides will be included in the symposium electronic program. If you have other materials that you wish to hand out as part of your program, contact us. We will be happy to work with you to ensure that additional handouts, etc. are made available if possible.
Q: How can I market my company or services at the symposium?
A: In order to create an engaging and credible event, we will not permit marketing or sales pitches as part of the symposium program. Limited distribution of marketing collateral, giveaways, etc. may be permitted with prior approval. If you would like to explore opportunities to formally market your services on the symposium website or at the event, please contact us regarding sponsorship opportunities.
Q: How many attendees do you expect?
A: At this time, we are anticipating 250+ attendees.
Q: Can I view the symposium agenda?
A: The detailed agenda is being finalized at this time.
Q: Who owns my presentation? Will my presentation materials be made available to attendees or the public?
A: You will retain the copyright for all materials submitted. The symposium will require the right to distribute paper and electronic (PDF) copies of your presentation materials. If your presentation is selected, the Speaker Agreement will contain complete details.
Q: Who is presenting the event?
A: The 2010 PMO Symposium is being presented by the Project Management Institute's Program Management Office Specific Interest Group (PMOSIG), a 4000+ member chartered component of the Project Management Institute.
Q: I have a co-presenter. Will his/her expenses be reimbursed?
A: Expense reimbursement is limited to one (1) primary presenter only. Co-presenters are responsible for their own registration, which must include a paid registration to PMO Symposium 2010.
Q: Will the symposium pay an honorarium?
A: In order to maximize value for attendees by limiting expenses, we will not pay speaking fees. Presenters may claim PDUs for their participation and take advantage of complimentary symposium registration and reasonable expense reimbursement.
Q: Is a formal paper required?
A: No, you do not need to submit a formal paper.
