Increasingly, corporations and public agencies are turning to the creation of a portfolio, program, or project management office (PMO) as a means of improving operational efficiency and effectiveness, to contend with an increasing amount of strategic change, or as mechanism for improving coordination within complex organizations.
However, implementing a corporate PMO, whether it serves the entire enterprise or a single department, can be a significant and often challenging undertaking. As an important starting point, PMO sponsors, leaders and stakeholders should first establish a shared vision for the PMO purpose, goals and objectives, service span, functional scope and other key design considerations. This establishes the basis for PMO planning, development, operation and ongoing management.
This interactive workshop, led by two established experts in the field, will review key considerations for PMO design and development. Through a structured series of discussions and exercises, participants will actually ‘rough out’ a PMO charter and development plan using provided templates. While individuals will gain useful insights from this workshop, organizations that are planning a PMO initiative are encouraged to participate as a team, so they can collaborate on exercises.
As part of the workshop, participants will receive
copies of books authored by the facilitators;
Taming Change with Portfolio
Management, by Pat Durbin and Terry Doerscher, and a choice of either
