Featured Presentation
The PMO Symposium team is pleased to announce this invited, featured presentation by Barbee Davis, noted agile and project management expert, author, and frequent contributor to the PMI Friday Facts. Featured presentations are invited talks by leading experts in current or emerging areas of interest and importance for PMO leaders.
Our project cultures are in the midst of heated
hostilities! On one side there is a small, agile force fighting a battle
with the other side, a firmly entrenched waterfall approach team. And we sit
as the PMO right in the thick of it.
Is there a way to bring peace to these two groups?
In this presentation, we will talk about how company
cultures can be successful in hybrid projects, especially when management
has already invested heavily in the adoption, training and governance of
more traditional methodologies and wants to protect their investment. We
will address these questions:
·
Does this new agile methodology align the business strategy of my
organization to projects in a better way?
·
How does my PMO, fit into all of this? Do we really need to change?
·
Where do our teams fall on a agile to waterfall matrix?
This will inform your PMO as to which method you should choose for
each project.
·
How easily can our PMO fit our current practices into a larger hybrid
project and how much adjustment is needed to merge the two processes?
·
How do you answer the inevitable questions of how to interface agile
practices with reporting structures and automated software originally
purchased for waterfall projects?’
·
If you are using more flexible documentation, how can this be blended into
metrics that will flow into Earned Value and other dashboard expectations of
upper management?
·
If both agile and traditional
teams are joined for enterprise projects, can each team retain its
individual but different methodology?
·
How can projects with hybrid team types be structured within a Program
Management environment?
