breakout session overview

Linking PMO Performance to Strategic Goals

Presentation Description

Recent research indicates that over the last decade IT project success rates have improved.  Over the same time period, there has been an increase in the number of PMOs.  Is there a relationship?

This session will offer proven cross industry strategies and case studies to support the PMO business case and measure PMO effectiveness.   This will include outlining a blend of strategic and tactical; leading and lagging; and quantitative and qualitative measures as well as a process to determine which performance metrics are best for an organization today and in the future.

Not only will this session provide participants with the opportunity to comment and discuss the ideas and solutions outlined in the presentation, but it will also serve as a forum for participants to share their own approaches and solutions.  At the conclusion of the session, participants will understand the “how and why” projects should be linked to a strategic business goal; obtain a set of project management and PMO effectiveness metrics; learn how these concepts can be implemented in a variety of simple to more complex Project Management Information Systems; and produce an effective performance dashboard.
