PMO Prosperity 2.0: What to Know, Do, and Think About

Presentation Description

At first viewed as a mechanism to introduce standards and consistency, the PMO must evolve into an indispensable piece of an organization’s operating model to survive long-term.  Remember, the purpose of the PMO is to change the culture of the organization toward more effective and efficient project management.  Changing the culture, however, takes time and requires supporters.  Creating change and building momentum can be accomplished through an incremental plan that demonstrates the value of project management best practices, identifies continuous improvement opportunities, and establishes the PMOs reputation as a value-added organization. 

This session focuses on what to know, do, and think about when starting or evolving a PMO.  After this session, audience members will  be informed and armed for immediate action to address nine key areas to sustain PMO value:

About the Presenter

Lisa DiTullio is the principal of Your Project Office, a PMI® Registered Education Provider and consulting organization dedicated to introducing project management as a business competency and enabling organizations to improve decision-making, instill accountability, and enhance communications. Her group offers training programs and advisory services supporting project/business management and team-building activities, as well as project office support services to organizations that do not need a full-time PMO.

Lisa is the editor of ProjectBestPractices, a quarterly newsletter from ProjectWorld, a regular contributor to the Silicon Valley PM and Project Connections blogs, a contributor to PM Network and a distance instructor for Prodevia Learning.  She is the author of Simple Solutions: How "Enterprise Project Management" Supported Harvard Pilgrim Health Care's Journey from Near Collapse to #1 and Project Team Dynamics:  Enhancing Performance, Improving Results.  She is a recognized international speaker in her field. 

As past director of the PMO at Boston-based Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Lisa was a core member of the turnaround team for an organization that went from being placed in state-supervised receivership in 1999 to being the “Number One Health Plan in America” in US News & World Report five years in a row.
